The 5 P’s. If you have read even a small number of my articles or heard me speak for just a few minutes, you have probably heard of the 5 P’s. What are the 5 P’s? Well, just in case you haven’t heard of them before, or maybe just forgotten them, I’ll tell you.
The 5 P’s are this: Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Each of these individual words are important and as a whole will help you be successful.
The 5 P’s certainly could apply to a variety of subjects like business, health, finances, relationships and the list goes on and on. However, today I am thinking about your retirement and financial future. So, let’s look at how they work together to help you achieve financial success for the ones you love.
The first step of course is to know that you even need a plan.
The quote that most fits this is one I heard 30 years ago: If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail! I’m sure that you don’t want to intentionally let your loved ones’ down, so understand that you must have a plan to give them financial success.
A proper plan is one that has been thought through with the what if’s to be considered and a plan b and maybe a plan c as well. It’s not a shot in the dark or a toss of a dart at a board and hope that you hit the mark. No, it’s a strategic set of actions that should lead to the desired result.
Can you imagine a football coach telling his team, “just go out there and score a touchdown” without giving them a specific set of plays? Crazy, right? When the coach has studied the things that could stop him (defense) and looked at alternative actions (options), then he can call a series of plays that will result in a successful, winning game.
A key ingredient to a successful plan is knowing where you are and where you want to end up. If you don’t know where you are and you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll end up somewhere, but it won’t be where you want to be. That’s why I want to offer you a personal priority planning guide to help you get started on a plan that will provide financial success for your loved ones.
